Salt Lake County Flight Park

Salt Lake County commissioned Sparano + Mooney Architecture to develop the master plan and site design for the Salt Lake County Flight Park. The area located at South Steep Mountain Drive in Draper, Utah has been used as a launching pad for area hang gliders since the 1920's. It is widely recognized as one of the top flight destinations in the world due to its consistent wind patterns. The design includes upgrades to improve the conditions patrons experience trying to launch and land in the park and increase of the park's capacity for spectators and patrons. The design of the park encourages activity, while also preserving and enhancing the natural resources of the site. Amenities include pavilions, restrooms, playground, parking lot, multipurpose fields, jogging path, launching and landing pads for the paragliders and hang glider enthusiasts. The design was a collaborative project between the landscape architecture firm of Arcsitio Design and Sparano + Mooney Architecture.
